The impact and forced vibration tests can determine the modal properties of the floor system and in conjunction with walking tests can determine the floor vibration response including its fundamental frequency, peak acceleration, rms acceleration and velocity, and VDV.
Impact test, consists of disturbing the structure from its quiescent condition, through a single impulse. The resulting response can be measured with adequate number of accelerometers (9 nos) whose sensitivity - 500mV/g with a range of ±3 g.
For forced vibration test, a spectrum of vibration from 0 Hz to 10 Hz can be exerted by a generator, which can be accurately controlled to impose both forced frequency and different amplitude. The walking test can be undertaken at critical areas identified from the results of the impact test and forced vibration test.
